Another monk scandal in Thailand! Police in the Nong Yai district of Chon Buri have busted a local monk with 6 methamphetamine pills, as well as a bag of crystal methamphetamine or ‘ice’. The police found the drugs in a temple raid earlier this week after locals alerted them about a monk who they were concerned was taking illegal drugs. The Pattaya News reports that the monk, 57 year old Choochart Somsakunmontree, claimed the drugs helped him meditate and reach a higher state of mind, even though they are banned by Buddhist regulations. reaching higher state of mind with drugs ! buddhist monks are one step ahead of doing Phd in monkhood!

Pathetic state of buddhism without control, downfall of an religion which can be seen clearly like titanic sinking !

Seems all the main stream religions are not measuring up, Bhuddism, Catholics with their penchant for little boys, Muslims with their radicals, C of E have had a few scandals too, seems  under the surface they all leave a lot to be desired.

True, and don't forget America with their penchant for church based shooting sprees.

I agree, but also doubt that's a useful comparison. For one thing, pears and apples are being compared:

  • Buddhists who get high are not a direct problem for society but they do go against their own set of rules.
  • Catholics who abuse boys are a minor problem for societies but they don't explicitly go against the rules of their belief system (not sure about that last bit).
  • Muslims who hurt/kill non-believers are a major problem for societies but act consistent within their belief system (radical versions anyway).
  • Christian Endeavour (= C&E?) is not a major religion.

It could easily be generalized to show the uselessness of the comparison: I reckon there's not a single (major) group of "similar" people that hasn't had plenty of scandals.

Point is that this is happening in Thailand, and that over here there haven't been plentiful publications of scandals about Catholics / Muslims / C&E's.

Must have help him float and elevate when meditating.
