Thai AirAsia X, the international low-cost carrier under the AirAsia umbrella, has had its bankruptcy claim accepted by a Thai court. This makes it the third airline in Thailand, along with Nok Air and Thai Airways, to file for bankruptcy since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. TAAX director, Tassapon Bijleveld, says all existing bookings will be honoured, including flights to South Korea and Japan, scheduled to start next month. Another one beats the dust. Others are thriving since opening up but sadly for Thailand.

Further evidence that long-haul low-cost carriers don't work very well, especially in this period (see Norwegian, which survives only by axing the intercontinental legs). Scoot and Cebu Pacific might be the next candidates.

Well they are just formalities trying to weather the Wuhan flu and iron fist of supression. Maybe this is their plot plan so Thai airways comes back into the arena dog paddling trying to make a howling come back. Not the first time Air Asia has been financially almost crippled.

Nothing has really changed. They declare bankruptcy to keep the creditors from the door which gives them time to rehab the airline using current cash credit etc.
