PTT Oil and Retail Business (OR) plans to increase its electric vehicle (EV) business by adding more charging stations in the nation’s shopping malls by the end of the year. Terminal 21, Fashion Island, and The Promenade are next in line to get the charging stations under the PluZ brand. 450 stations by the end of this year... that will help if they want to promote electric cars (not).
France you see them everywhere. Every petrol station along the highways, have tens of those charging points, divided between Tesla and general ones.
The Netherlands have 81000 chargers of which 3000 fast chargers.

Think the cost of recharging will be a deterent in Thailand.

Some of the locals already complaining about the recent electricity cost increase. 

Know a lot of Thais still not even own a car, a/c, or some even a refrigerator. (Mother in law sells heaps of the large block ice at her local shop.) so think an electric car not on the need to have list for a while, an electric bike maybe.

Sorry to disagree with that SD.  PTT is a very progressive company and they invest wisely.  You'll note the locations of EV charging stations are places most likely to enjoy high EV traffic and parking eg: Terminal21.

People will buy EV's as city run-a-bouts for wives and family although rural take-up will be very slow and IMO EV's may be eclipsed by newer future technology better suited to isolated communities.

Where I work there are a few charging stations.

Some were never switched on, and most of the others are used for regular parking, as nobody drives an electric car there...

Only time will tell KR. All too often I see successive Thai governments make tactical, rather than strategic decisions. These are especially evident when it comes international pressures where they need to show they are “doing the right thing”. I’m sure PTT will be looking to ensure their business interests are positioned well for the rise in EV’s
