Police have arrested a woman in Bang Lamung district of Chon Buri province on Friday for allegedly being involved in a Chinese gambling website. The report for an arrest warrant from the Rayong provincial court claims that the woman, 41 year old Daeng Chansingto, opened a bank account for the website in exchange for money in 2021. She made a bad choice.

The Thai legal system doesn't go for nuances. The mere act of opening a bank account and handing over login credentials (i.e. no further involvement needed) is sufficient "reason/proof" to be slapped with penalties on par with those of the crime the account is subsequently involved in.

This will keep happening, since Thailand's sole approach of picking low-hanging fruit by jailing gullible people is ineffective; it's not a deterrent for the simple reason that many people remain unaware of the risks and essentially - gullible.

So your view is that "ignorance" IS an excuse

Many Thais are doing these money laundering for the Chinese underground. Easy commission money but they do not understand the risks.
