This article doesnt say where these holiday makers were from either way .. seems like in europe some compensation would be coming their way or at a comment in trip adviser the truth would be enough to stop this happening again

Or was working with someone on the hotel tour desk. Likely to be quite a lot of this sort of thing going on, as well as blatant over-charging (did someone mention the Phuket taxi mafia), as people try to make up for lost earnings over the last two years.
