The amount of cars and especially  suvs on the roads in Bkk have increased tremendously over the last 2 decades. Combine that with existing older cars and motorbikes, exhaust-belching buses and trucks that should be banned from use, countless construction sites, removal of green spaces, and massive use of air conditioners in flats as well as almost all buildings (and the stupifyingly inefficient waste that occurs daily when hundreds of double-height glass doors are frequently left open to the outside), and the result is absolutely predictable. The gov't is going to "solve" this?  Instead of buying another submarine or a used aircraft carrier, how about replacing every old bus with new electric or natural gas buses?  If the gov't had any real desire to make substantive changes, there are things they could do.  But i imagine the "commissions" made on certain actions are substantially greater on some when compared to others. Duh.

No effective laws. No enforcement much unless money involved. Only culture incompatible with modernity. Yes, nothing will change. Never understood why foreigners come to Thailand and choose large polluted cities to live / work in.

They say masks are necessary for covid, and people are like: Don't force us! 

If they just say to wear them because of the pollution, people will be like: yeah, we kinda understand why we should wear a mask. 

They'll even put them more tightly on their faces.

The buses plowing the cities in Thailand are really old. The amount of emission is ridiculous.
