Nation Thailand reports that the downgrade in alert levels comes as the number of Covid-19 patients on ventilators begins to fall, along with the number of Covid-related deaths. Currently, the Covid situation has plateaued in 23 provinces, while infections are falling in 53 provinces. Despite the improving situation, the PM says the public must […]

So.... Anything about the masks? When it's endemic, we can finally walk out without masks and feeling being looked at?

If they don't drop the masks soon, then when?

They cannot be indefinite.

Gotta say, I'll be wearing a mask for a long time yet. Simply renaming it from pandemic to endemic ain't gonna stop me from contracting it if I aren't sensible.

2 years late in that announcement. Pandora does not go back in the box. Deal with it.

denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance

Stage 5, acceptance also known to some who skipped 1-4 as reality.

They are telegraphing an Aug1 date for return to pre COVID life (where all COVID rules and restrictions are lifted). Regardless, the wait continues

Apparently not. The PM hints at it in the above article when he says people still need to comply with prevention measures. An article in todays Bangkok Post (copied and pasted here later today or tomorrow), has Mr Anutin making it clear that foreigners would be “urged” to wear face masks. Mind you, he also said they were considering measure to control Covid-19 AFTER it becomes endemic! So in other words very little will change.

Im afraid masks, temperature sensors, hand sanitisers and sign in sheets in shopping malls are all going to be around for a while. Tourists are going to be shocked when they arrive to find Thailand is still in the middle of an Endemic Pandemic. Work that one out!

Tourists will rapidly recoil and avoid travel, if in a few months Thailand becomes one of the only countries in the world still requiring masks.

If I'm correct, he said something about controlling the 'spread' now so that it could become endemic.

But who knows, he says different things every day😂
