News Forum - Phuket fishing boats pass inspections, no illegal activity found, officials say
I really hope this story is true and these boats are all operating above board but is it a sad indictment of my faith in Thai authorities that my first though was. OK they are all up to date with their bribes then? -

News Forum - Mysterious man terrorises Thai vet, police late to respond
could not detain the suspect because he was “out of control.” I suspect they were all asleep which was why it took so long to respond and they could not detain the suspect because they were anxious to resume their slumbers. I suspect if there had been any money in it for them they could have detained the man. The Thai Police once again covering themselves in ignominy proving to the world how pathetic and ineffective they are and how little they care about the welfare of a vulnerable woman. It is little wonder that more and more lone western women tourists question the safety of Thailand as a holiday destination. -

News Forum - Highway scandal shuffles easy pass cops to Yala’s police operations centre
Moved to another office but NOT dismissed or charged with corruption. Does anyone wonder why the Royal Thai Police are a laughing stock not only in Thailand but around the world. Not taking action against them is effectively saying carry on with the corruption guys but try not to get caught. -

News Forum - Highway horror: Civil engineer’s fatal crash claims delivery rider’s life in Bangkok
Most of my driving in Thailand is between Bangkok and Hua Hin Of all the times I have made this trip in both directions in both rain and dry conditions I have only seen one accident in the dry and an average of 2 accidents per trip in the wet. -

News Forum - Grope gone wrong: CCTV busts perverted Thai man sexually assaulting female vendor in Isaan (video)
I am not condoning for one minute what this guy has done and I believe that he should be punished by the law for it to maybe discourage him from committing an even worse sexual assault next time however it reads to me in this story that the victim then demanded 50,000THB not to go to the police, in most countries that would be considered blackmail so maybe the plod should have a little chat with her about her future conduct. Sadly it seems in Thailand a lot of this type of crime goes unreported due to a payment being made to the victim, the problem is then though that there is a very real risk the offender will be emboldened to do the same (or more usually worse) again.
