News Forum - Thai netizens laugh at foreign woman who mistook spirit house for a table

Albeit funny (in a lack of cultural understand sort of way), and as I would have hoped, the Thais  handled it well (without unnecessary aggression - and instead took to social media, which is the way of the world now). Put it does speak to a sad state of being when people travel to other places (hopefully with an interest in immersion into a new culture) and simply fail to pause or think for a minute that maybe there is more to a place than what meets the eye. I'm sure the foreigner meant no harm. Just not very observant, bright or thoughtful.

When I read, and laughed, that the red Fanta is supposed to represent the blood of a sacrificed animal, I seem to recall that there is a cult (yes I did spell it correctly)  who fantasize that red wine and a bit of biscuit are the blood and flesh of some Jewish geezer who lived, in Israel, about 2000 years ago.

True, and in centuries gone by they would have been dusting off the stake and piling up the kindling for anyone that insulted one of their shrines. There is some other cult, as well, founded by some bloke that thought he was talking to angels, that even now would be collecting the stones and rocks for the same. There is a lot (of good) to be said for the tolerance of Buddhists and the beliefs that have become part and parcel of Buddhism in many countries.
