One thing I will say about the Thais, they don’t make a drama out of a crisis. If this had occurred at London Heathrow, the airspace would have been closed and all flights diverted. The airport would have been closed for at least 12-24 hours with the whole things taking several days to recover from. Hundreds of police would have been sent to the scene. Forensic teams would be deployed and the area cordoned off to allow evidence to be collected. When apprehended he would be found to have mental health issues and hence not stand trial and receive counselling and drug abuse support. Total cost to the country would have been about £25m-£50m and the guy would walk.
