Yes, …. and someone in the toll booth collects the money. Maybe as long as the pay the ferryman they can get across to the other side!

If you are worried about the toll-keeper pocketing money, then you can ask for a receipt. The main problem with the tolls on Motorways is some police hang around and pull people over after they've paid and claiming they've made a traffic violation the other side before passing through, they try to get you to pay a "fine".

You can of course now pay tolls with other methods than cash. You can pay via the M-Pass or an Easy-Pass on-board unit. They were going to introduce M-Flow toll system in 2021, with automatic payment from the vehicle registration number plates. I'm not sure this has been introduced yet..   but it means you don't have to stop at all.

No, it’s are they doing their job and restricting the banned vehicles from the motor/expressway. But as there is a human factor involved, and it is Thailand, I’m sure that no token of appreciation to allow such banned vehicle access.

I have travelled a lot on motorways and the only "odd" vehicles I've ever noticed were maintenance or crew vehicles.  A "banned" vehicle would stick out like a sore thumb on a motorway or expressway. The police would love it.

Of all the traffic problems on Thai roads, I'd suggest that is a very insignificant one.

OK that means 140-150 is normal now 🤣

Those speed cameras saying 90 only, never work. Many people pass me almost 2x my speed when I drive 120😂

Highway 11 for one

only part is an expressway, at least most of it is National Highway.. it has to be limited access.

So you did know there was an "expressway" in CM after all.....😋

So what are you trying to imply?

I looked it up - you should try it sometime. "for the final 10 kilometers of the road, it is the so-called Superhighway, " - but I'm still not 100% clear if it is actually an "expressway" - it has to be limited access. As I said I haven't been up there for a while. The signs will say at the start. I believe it will need to have toll booths.

in fact the more I look at it, the more I think it isn't an expressway at all.

Depends on what you call an expressway, but CM does have a few roads built to smooth things out...
