News Forum - Russia’s FM Sergei Lavrov warns US not to supply Ukraine with arms

Recommended Posts

Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is urging the US and NATO to stop supplying Kyiv (capital of Ukraine) with arms. “If the US and NATO are really interested in resolving the Ukraine crisis, then first of all they should wake up and stop supplying the Kyiv regime with arms and ammunition.” Months into an invasion, the Russian army is now intensifying operations in Ukraine’s eastern Donbas region. Now over 2 months into the invasion, Russia’s short-term aim of capturing Kyiv and over-running the country has largely failed.  Despite the protracted invasion, huge human loss on both sides and a growing […]

The story Russia’s FM Sergei Lavrov warns US not to supply Ukraine with arms as seen on Thaiger News.

Warns or urges? Big difference. The Russian media mouthpiece says “demands”. The TASS website is rather unresponsive and often links lead to 404 errors. lol!

If you are naive enough to believe Russia’s most recent claim of Ukrainian Armed Forces losses then Ukraine need a bit more than a few hundred tanks to even things up.

"Overall, the following targets have been destroyed since the beginning of the special military operation: 142 aircraft, 112 helicopters, 640 unmanned aerial vehicles, 279 surface-to-air missile systems, 2,646 tanks and other combat armored vehicles,305 multiple launch rocket systems, 1,184 field artillery guns & mortars and 2,475 special military motor vehicles had also been taken out.

How does get out of the Ukraine and pay reparations to the country for the destruction you made sound? or- Suck ME! Sorry for the semi vulgarity but I am so tired of these Russian war mongers. How about this: Death to the Russian Goverment controlled and manipulated by Putin! And Putin too! But he needs to be raped by a man first before he dies. Now this is fitting and a message to others!

However it sounds like a desperate plea for the west to stop supplying the Ukraine because it means Czar Putin and his thugs can't win.

Or urging them to stop delaying the inevitable/got to explain the “slow” progress to the people at home.  I think if the total Donbass region falls under Russian control only then we can clearly judge what Russia really intends to do by seeing their next steps.

The Russian media puts a totally different spin on the Russia Ukraine conflict. https://www.newsweek.com/how-russian-media-telling-ukraine-war-story-monday-april-18-1698774

It does not matter if the whole of the Donbas region falls. The Ukrainians are going to keep on fighting. The west is now giving them heavy weaponry and mysteriously more aircraft. This does not stop just because Czar Putin achieves a goal he can sell to the Russian people as a victory.

The Ukrainians are not going to stop.

Every now and then, I'm sufficiently annoyed by Thaiger's style of reporting (speculation, sensationalism, superficiality, brain-dead rewrites, silly mistakes, …) to hit the "Quote article"-button.

This article, however, is reporting facts without putting any noticeable spin on them, it seems accurate (even after looking up the transcript of Lavrov's interview) and it gives a reasonably complete summary.

I realized I never hit the "Quote article"-button on a good article. I won't make a habit out of that, but: this is a good article (except for the use of the word "warns" in the clickbaity title ;-)

Warns, threatens, whatever. So what. It’s not like this is the first time Russia has voiced their displeasure over western weapon transfers. And yet billions have been sent and will continue to be sent. The US just authorized $33B, that was on top of the $14B they had already sent. Keeping in mind this is only suppose to cover Ukraine through September. After which more weapons and money will be given. Clearly these warnings or whatever are being done for internal consumption since it’s just as clear the west doesn’t care what Russia says.

Note to the criminal Lavrov,  bit late for that warning my old china.  Depleted Uranium shells will be on their merry way to obliterate your boys, from radar guided artillery, any time soon mate. Range is reported to be in excess of 30km and they are deadly accurate, this is none of your crap Russian made kit,  so make sure your lot have their tin hats on.

Lavrov claimed that NATO was interfering with a political settlement in Ukraine and that the West intended to fight until "the last Ukrainian," according to an NBC News translation. He also claimed the Ukraine conflict "contributes to the process of freeing the world from the neo-colonial oppression of the West."

It must take a certain level of disconnect to be able to say that with a straight face.

No the West isn’t fighting, and they are prepared to support Ukraine to “the last Russian”. I wonder if he even reality he utter hypocrisy of that last sentence?

These warnings have been coming for 2 months now, with not a single one backed up by a brave move against the US by Russia.

It seems like the US military has caught on to this pattern of behavior, causing them to amplify the investment.

Despite all of the demands for respect and equal treatment coming from the Russians, the Americans seem intent on treating Russia with the same level of regard as any dusty mid Eastern country.

Putin seems to hold his bluffing ability in high regard, but maybe he forgot that the Americans invented Texas Hold 'Em.

NATO are certainly  “interfering “ with Russian Plans😉👍😏 That’s their ONLY Job !🤣🤣🤣😉Note to Gargoyle Lavrov: it’s called “ asymmetrical warfare” or perhaps “ fighting without engaging”.🤣🤣🤣or maybe “ continuation of politics by other means”. Elizabeth 1 a Master 400 years ago.

WAR, you see Mr. Tyrant Puppet, isn’t just Neanderthal / brain -dead frontal tank assaults, human wave tactics, shelling cities & raping / murdering folk.

Gather up your 30,000 Dead & 20,000 Wounded / Deserted / POW and LEAVE Ukraine while still able before your demoralized rust-bucket army is pounded to scrap & mush by the US -supplied Howitzers (130 km range) ……

Considering the fact that Russia violated the UN sanctions on weapons supply to Iraq, and Syria, Russia's demands are laughable.

Come on Vigo, you can have a bigger list than that o atrocities if you want to spend some more time typing. Ah ok, it is ok already a how muchdo we need to read and see for the Putin death fist.

Who do you think, may "run out" first?

Just a play on words. The war would end long before anyone got to that stage. Sooner or later one side’s heavy weapons will be degraded to a level they will quit and go home. Did that answer your question?

Too late, the UK has been supplying the Ukrainians with high tech advanced weapons for months now, that is one of the reasons they are managing to halt the progress of the Russians and almost completed stop the invasion of northern Ukraine.

So many Russian aircraft, tanks and other heavy weapons have been destroyed, the Russians will take the Eastern part of Ukraine, make a land bridge to their 'comrades' in the south west part of the Ukraine and then call for peace with a demand they keep the land they have 'taken'.

Once the billions of dollar advanced weapons the USA is in the process of supplying this will make the Ukrainians even stronger, it is a sort of Western war against the Russians by proxy.

But there will be flare ups and a cold war for many decades to come.

The Russians have a large inventory and before they get to the point of that they will initiate a wartime economy and maximize war supply production. They will use nuclear weapons too. Once they go nuclear or attack a Ukraine nuclear power plant Europe will be one big radioactive mess.

Not going to happen unless it is by a briefcase nuke that they will say wasn't them which causes controlled are damage.. So not going to happen. If at all maybe it will be a non nuke but big uh oh type of weapon. Like cluster bombs from a warhead.

Doesn’t need to happen. If a certain bunker complex in Kyiv is destroyed it’s all over bar the shouting.

You’re kidding right? Russia’s inventory is shot. Corruption and neglect have decimated it. Never mind much of it is obsolete. War time economy is meaningless. Russian weapon factories are already shutting down. Seems most of the equipment is made with western components and they can’t get them anymore.

Russia won’t use nukes unless you think Putin is suicidal. Is that the case?

You are kidding right? Russia did OK in Syria with their supposedly decimated and neglected inventory. Their weapon exports have grown every year despite sanctions and Covid supply chain shortages. Russia has been preparing for the liklehood of this invasion since Putin’s puppet was sent packing on February 22, 2014 - 7 years ago. The poorly equipped, demoralized Russian Armed Forces story just isn’t translating to the battlefield. Nukes won’t happen. Too much risk for too little a reward.

To be fair I was really talking about the reserve inventory, sorry if I didn’t make that clear. Still I don’t think you can really compare what is being done now with what happen in Syria. Beside the fact they were facing mostly rag tag rebels without much heavy weapons. Did Russia even have more than a few thousand ground troops in Syria at any given time? I thought it was mostly an air war for Russia???

The weapon exports were before the current sanctions. The prior sanctions were a joke. It’s why we have already heard the Russian tank factory and naval ship yards have shut down.
