Cannabis will be delisted as a narcotic in Thailand on June 9, and thousands of people and organisations have submitted applications for a “weed license” to Thailand’s Food and Drug Administration, or FDA. The license allows individuals or companies to import, possess, grow and produce cannabis or hemp. So far, the FDA has received 4,717 applications. This is dumber than a large bag of hammers.

Once a country legalizes weed for 'Medicinal purposes', the proverbial cat is out of the bag and recreational use will rise, whether legal or not.

Weed will be a HUGE business in Asia, and whichever country does full legalization first will set the rules, write regulations that play to their benefit (which will be copied; governments are lazy) and will have a head start on the export market.

Thailand needs an economic boost and diversification from its reliance in tourism, and weed fits the bill.

Like the man said, "Just Do It".

Article Quote: Without FDA approval, marijuana remains an illicit drug in Thailand. Possession of 10 kilograms of cannabis or more is a crime punishable by 15 years in prison and carries a fine of 1.5 million baht. Consumption of marijuana carries a jail term of one year and a fine of 20,000 baht.

Why don't they just stop the rhetoric facade trying to make it look seem so cool that they are making weed oil sounding so hip! Hip is allowing the people to use it recreational and having the oils for medicinal purposes, stupid is claiming they are the cats meow playing with the words maryjane all the while still keeping it illegal. I call farce.

I think we will have more clarity immediately after June 9.  I expect law enforcement of possession to stop that day, with proliferation of thc flowers appearing in shops.
