May be statistically it is not bad. But in reality 278 families have shattered future. May be 500 children from that 278 families have lost their better future. Fatality has to be totally avoided in any circumstances. People has to be educated from a young age for a better safety awareness.

I would assume then that of the 278 people who lost thier lives that none were friends or relatives of Boontam Lertsukeekasem

Considering that 63% of accidents were caused by speeding and drunk driving or a combination of both, I would suggest focusing on behaviour rather than vehicles, roads and the environment would produce a better result.

What about those who die later in hospital, are they in this overall figure, I think not. I read that most of those convicted of drink driving got probation, that will really deter them, not.

If Thailand continues to treat the result rather than the reason... it will never win.

Hopefully the RTP will be ordered to crack down on drink driving and speeding every day of the year, not just for 7 days a year.

Oh, you are not aware of the other 7 days of danger, around "the real new year"? 

That makes it 14 days, with "focus" (meaning extra tents to hide before the sun are set up somewhere) on this. Isn't that enough, for this decade?
