  • The Turkish flag carrier has reached an agreement to fly 1.5 million Russian tourists into the country over the year. As part of a $300 million government-backed scheme that will also involve the creation of a new charter airline, the airline will allocate 1.5 million seats to Turkish tour operators offering travel packages to Russians
  • Turkish Airlines is one of a select few foreign airlines still flying to Russia, although it has significantly reduced its schedule over the last month. Additionally, the airline has banned Russian citizens from flying on all routes except between Russia and Turkey.
  • The conflict in Ukraine, which has led to embargoes on Russian-linked companies, has made it difficult for tour operators in Russia to continue bringing tourists into Turkey.

Turkey are the hosts for the peace talks so Ukraine must have some trust in them.
Russian citizens now have a chance to leave Russia and maybe learn something. That’s a good thing. Sadly, some people hope for genocide. That’s a bad thing.

Being NOT a European Christian people and murdering Kurds daily they never had any chance of joining EU.

Greek & French Veto Guaranteed.

Closer to 98%. Turkey has a tiny geographic presence in continental Europe just west of Istanbul. Resent it when they play in European sports tournaments, they’re Asian!

Israel welcome though as clearly primarily a European people. Highly Civilized & Advanced. Shame they never sought EU membership.

If Zelenskyy is playing Putin then he is going all in. If Ukraine loses militarily then they lose everything. If Russia loses they retreat back behind their borders and then threaten to throw nukes at whoever invades Russia.

Ukraine won’t lose. NATO can’t & won’t let that happen.😎 Ukraine must remain a west- Leaning Buffer State as NATO Plan ……NATO  will not tolerate a second Russian Puppet State (after Belarus) on its borders,as important as Ukraine. Worst Case is a Putin-puppet separatist East Ukraine ( Russian ethnic / speaking) if Ukraine somehow defeated in Donbass.😩😠

Many people are assuming Putin wants to take over Ukraine. I disagree, especially after the pull back from Kyiv. Why occupy a country full of potential insurgents and remove a non NATO buffer zone? No NATO bases in Ukraine plus the disputed regions = goals accomplished. The neo Nazi and regime change talk was just talk.

You may be correct that NATO will not quit (until the last Ukrainean is dead. What IS likely to happen is Russia will increase their stand-off warfare and consolidate gains.

NATO (i. e. USA) already has 30+ puppets so why they cannot put up with another country having what they themselves take for granted seems a mysterium to me.

When neither side is willing to yield and a settlement seems far away, the absense of a neutral court will let this roll on for another few news cycles.

How much are the EU citizens, (along with US tax payers) willing to pony up for this show? Hungary has already chosen a little bit more of a sutainable course. Be ready to see other nations ask "why only them" as people have to choose between paying electricity bill or buying fabric softeners.

This is a long game, measured in months, not hours.

Putin and half his close cabinet can beat the sharpest among EU/NATO politicians in Chess blindfolded. The West presents it as if Russia was "stunned" when the West implemented another set of SancZZZZZZZZZZionZZZZZ.

The strategic goal of Russia could very well end up being leaving a Rump-Ukraine West of Dnepr and North of a 200 kilometer land corridor along the Black sea to Romania.

The rest as a demilitarized and neutered borderland seems an acceptable goal.

What are you going to do with Hungary, Estonia and Finland? Finnmark in Norway also has a large Asian ethnic population.

And will only the Ashkenazi part of the Israelis be allowed to be EU members? What about the 20% Arab-Israelis?

I believe using race as the basis for the EU is going to present some challenges.

Oh well, this is interesting taking into consideration this is Easter Friday. However, EU is not really more "Christian" than North Korea. Most government leaders are racing to declare their nations as atheist as possible. And, in a few more decades, one can hardly expect France to veto the accession of another fellow islamic state.

EU is about as "Christian" as Rome was at the time of it's fall.

The majority of Europeans are still Christian and nobody wants to declare any nation as "atheist" - I think "secular" as in a distinction between state and Church is the word you were looking for.

Oh I see what you are doing here. Trying to deflect onto a racist/religious/sectarian topic.

Nice try but no coconut.

True but European culture has strong inherited Christian type benign features. Turkey most certainly has opposite incompatible culture.

NATO a union of free nations far from “puppets”. Naturally the strongest has the biggest say. France notoriously “ independent”. That’s just democracy. 2% GDP the NATO standard for each member. Only US / UK comply. Not very puppet like 😠“ Puppets” or “ satellites” are typically controlled by Tyrants.

Not race but culture. Europe is not a “ race” Those mentioned countries are all European by culture with small minorities who may have differing (eg Lapps) or incompatible ( eg Muslim) cultures.

Well, you talk about European and Asian. Asia is as diverse as Judaism, Shintoism or Confucianistic cultural heritages.

So A Europe vs. them (Asian) is a bit ethnodynamic talk for sure.

Also, there are still big distinctions in Europe. The Russia is definitely a Europan cultural entity since the vikings fared in Novgorod and Kievan Rus existed.  In many ways the Rhine is still preserving a non-anglo culture and even though the Nordic countries have mostly been dragged into vasallhood of the Anglo-US empire, the identity of a soveriegn entity still exists.

You simply cannot exclude neither Russian culture nor Russian people from the European identity.  I would say Russia remains a highly civilized nation with a wide scientific content and a rich literary, cultural and linguistic  history.

There has to be some distinctions though to preserve critical dominant national / cultural identity.

Multi- culturalism tried & failed in Western Europe & thankfully rejected completely by Eastern Europe and never attempted.

Diversity & Inclusion can be very good or , as now, very bad, where people are selected or preferred / favoured BECAUSE they’re “Different” not on merit .

Unless someone has experienced being a minority in their very large capital city, they can never understand the physicality of incompatible people & cultures all around you and feeling an outsider in your birth land.

Its not anything about race. I am very widely travelled & had a superb marriage to a wonderful Black British Lady for 15 years with two mixed race daughters now 30s adults. Her Family are all Doctors or Judges or Engineers in Africa, Europe & USA while I’m the only family member to receive higher education beyond age 16.

She & my girls are able to freely cross the cultural divide in ways I simply cannot.

Russia founded by Vikings, became a highly civilized European culture EXCEPT that was always DENIED to the enslaved 99% ordinary people.

My favorite Russian authors were always Pasternak ( Dr. Zhivago), Tolstoy (War & Peace) of course and the incredible Solzhenitsyn ( Gulag Archipelago ).
