It's horrifying to think about going diving and having some drug addled idiot deciding to just go home and leave you there while your under water. Their can be no claims of miscounting etc when one of the missing divers was the dive instructor!

Oh boy, now down to the the 14 yr old son. Hope he has the wits and skill set to make it. Let's hope that the boat operator gets a good punnishment and the boy is found alive for his and everyone's sake.

Sadly not.

”Mr Chesters' Dutch son, Nathen Renze Chesters, remained missing, but his father told police he had died "as he was too weak and could not survive," the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency said in a statement.

Who knows. Better to stay positive as he is too young to have his life ended. But I did open your link and read it.

I operated a live aboard dive scuba boat in Papua New Guinea for 10 years, only once did we temporarily loose a diver who got caught in a very bad current, we picked him up about 90 minutes after the dive finished several miles away so it can happen. We were at a Manta cleaning station in about 6m of water and advised all divers that this was the dive and not to enter the channel due to 6 knot plus currents, he got tired of watching oceanic mantas at the cleaning station and ventured out into the passage looking for Nudibranchs and a purple Lacey Scorpionfish ( Rhinopias) and thats how it happens.

4 people total. The dive instructor, a French woman, the English father all recovered safely. The English son is missing and his father said he died.
The agency said it notified Indonesian authorities to continue searching for the body. The search operation in Malaysia has been called off.”

That last sentence is a bit weird. So is it the Malaysian authorities now think the body is in Indonesian waters by now, and so they figure no more need to waste resources and gas?

Possibly but who knows? Malaysia sent out a dinghy with a jerrycan to find flight MH370 and then left Australia to conduct the real search.

Yeah, it is weird and seems a little short. But maybe that is how Malaysia typically reacts. Full speed ahead and then full stop. 0-60-0.
