The Thai government, along with the most influential rebel group in Southern Thailand, have agreed to stop violence for 40 days, for the period April 3 to May 14, which includes the holy month of Ramadan and the Songkran holidays. Why agree to give them peace for ramedan they kill people all year around now they want a few days off you can never trust them if you agree with everything they want they still find a way to have a reason to blow up things

It's called a confidence building measure. Will have to see if both sides abide by the agreement. Unfortunately there does not appear to be any leeway for the Thai government to grant any form of autonomy, could be the low intensity violence drags on for yet more years. Corruption also plays a part, you could reasonably describe them as traitors, some people will be making millions from the conflict.
