Don’t be alarmed, it’s not so bad. That’s the gist of the message from the Public health Ministry, which dismissed fears of the new XE variant’s appearance in Thailand, as experts say the symptoms aren’t as severe as previous strains of Covid-19. On Saturday, Ramathibodi Hospital’s Centre for Medical Genomics, or CMG, revealed they’d diagnosed the first patient with the new variant, saying he’d already recovered. So one day the authorities make a public anouncement and it is all over the news, with the obvious effect of scaring further the most scared people after 2 years of 24/7 fearmonging, to next day the same authority saying "not to fear". How about not mentioning it at all? And how about the news outlets not reporting it either?
