The South Bangkok Criminal Court ruled yesterday that a student activist charged with lèse majesté who was barred from studying abroad in Germany earlier this month will now be allowed to study there. The activist, nicknamed “Dear”, won a prestigious scholarship for a Master of Management in Non-Profit Organisations. Finally some common sense.

Maybe there is some glimmer of hope for the Thai justice system after all.

They cannot all be brain dead morons.

Nice to see a good news story.

I do hope that pressure was applied from Germany to those with vested interests in freely accessing certain of their southern states. Thailand supplies neither gas nor oil after all, so shouldn't be too much of a stretch for Germany to pretend it stands up for democratic values.

"Democratic values" ???? Thailand does have a certain bike rider that loves their country, drops a billion baht or so regularly.
