In response to complaints about a shortage of the anti-viral medicine Favipiravir, with hospitals running low on the primary drug in Thailand used to treat Covid-19, the Public Health Ministry has said that the country’s supply is enough to meet the local demand. Nothing unusual in a difference of opinion between the paper pushers in Krung They and those doctors who inhabit the real world. What is more disturbing is the continued production and usage of a hugely inferior drug. Has the ministry not learned from the debacle over use of Chinese junk vaccines? Apparently not, or else they would be using the much superior molnupiravir instead of subjecting Thai people to use inferior medication. Hub of Medical Tourism this is not!
