The Thaiger colors and Thai History

The colors associated with "The Thaiger" are black and yellow as witnessed by the company T-shirt and the "T" logo. One would assume the colors are such because tigers are black and yellow. But is there an historical connection instead?  The uniform colors of the paramilitary Wild Tiger Corps established in 1911 by King Vajiravudh  (Rama VI)  were black and yellow. Coincidence or not?
