In the footage posted by Santi Kasinthuram on Facebook, the pit bulls can be seen charging into the home causing his 6 year old and 8 year old sons to flee to safety. how he can control the pit bulls better to prevent this kind of incident from happening again.

Seems like they're willing to take the risk for this to happen again...

breed infamously known for their violent temperament.

Should definitely not be allowed among people, keep them safely in a cage, like other dangerous predators.

Don't blame the dogs blame the owner.

In this instance 23rd blaming the owner will not stop these dogs from possibly killing a grown adult never mind defenceless children.

What is initially the owners fault becomes our fight to survive from these vicious creatures, blaming the owners is not the answer to this nationwide problem. I repeat culling is the only answer.

This breed of dog is given so much bad publicity their the same as all other dogs territorial pack animals that if kept as pets need training and socialisation from when there puppies.

On a personal note in 10 years in Thailand I've never had a large dog or Soi dog even bark at me but on a weekly basis I'll get one off those small Pom Pom dogs running up snapping at me .

But back to your point Pitbull type dogs are powerful animals and shouldn't be kept as a fashion accessory by People who haven't the time or experience to properly train and socialise them.

So let's cut to to the chase......your answer to these dogs that could have mauled these two children to death.

If you watch the video at what point did the dogs attack the kids?

They looked more interested in the cats.

I'm done with your apologetic responses, I would have thought an ex vet would have more sense. Bye

Do you refer to the baldy badger jumping up and down with red ants in his pants or the svelte pooying.

As much as I like it unfortunately only the baldy's music is allowed, my wife wouldn't be too thrilled having those dancers around🤭

Aggression was bred in to pit bulls, and has not really been bred out - they are a banned breed in more than one country, with good reason. I have had a couple of Staffordshire Bull Terriers, that aggression has been pretty much bred out of them now, they can be soft as anything, but are also excitable and have a very powerful bite (one of mine used to chew chunks out of car tyres) - there is no way that I would leave one alone with a child.

Being a Veteran only increased my love for dogs Marble-eye AES Dogs have been a real life saver on the ground and nothing cleared an Afghan Compound faster than a Belgium Malinous.

One of my Pet hates excuse the pun is People who take on dogs as fashion accessories without being able to care for them like here in Thailand where many Thai folk buy Huskies because they look cute imagine walking around Thailand wearing a fur coat??.

I've always been a dog lover (but I detest cats).

The more concerning aspect to this story is why does a Monk own 3 x pitbulls ?  Were they being used as fighting dogs?.

I have had dogs all my life and those dogs were well cared for and wanted for nothing. So I don't dislike dogs except for these wild dogs that have probably been kicked out at some stage in their life when the owners suddenly realise that dogs need feeding and do like to go to the toilet.

Now it's not the dogs fault that it has been evicted from the house that they thought was home, but unfortunately when it gets kicked out it becomes a problem to the rest of us, so blaming the owner will not stop it from being a problem. Now I class a problem as these dogs spreading rabies and the like, but that is the only good thing about Pit Bulls is that they don't spread Rabies because they usually eat you first.

But to say they were not interested in those two children is away with the fairies, luckily the boys found sanctuary thank goodness and I'm pleased they did or we could be looking at two dead kids.

As for the monks keeping these creatures, that is what happens when dogs get abandoned, maybe the owners of the dogs took them to the temple, who knows.

I do agree with you Marble-eye and the point I stressed is People shouldn't take on dogs unless they can look after them and have time and expertise to train and socialise them properly.

There seems to be more than meets the eye with this story yes I've seen Monks at The Wats take in and feed Soi dogs but these 3 x Pitbulls are quite rare valuable dogs in Thailand my main concern would be they were being used in dog fighting.

Yes I agree, but when a dog of the stature of a Pit Bull is released on the streets or given to a Wat to care for by its owners it is probably too late to do anything with it.

Unfortunately the dogs will always pay the price because of thoughtless owners. But at the end of the day we should always err on the side of caution for the safety of citizens.

Dog fighting is perfectly legal here in Japan, and there are 25,000 registered fighting dogs. I don’t ever recall hearing about a fighting dog killing a cat in the news in my 21 years here, let alone a human.

It comes down to control. Bad owner = trouble. There are laws in Thailand governing dog ownership, but they just aren’t enforced enough.

Could so easily have been a tragedy I love dogs but pits are not pets and are easily capable of killing an adult never mind a child, people need to wake up to this fact why does your pet dog have to be a status symbol?

All up to how these dogs are brought up and kept. Basically the normal Thai mentality and even then like most Americans (as I am an American) should not be allowed to have them. We have a French bulldog and she is a bit crazy and likes to go after all other dogs no matter what size they are, but she listens to our commands, backs off and is so is good. We also do not let her run out of our house area and keep good watch and control on both of our dogs. These pitbulls were a gang, and dogs in a group act like a gang in many cases.
