They also plan to speak to the Irish tourist

Him being Irish & yesterday was St Patrick's Day🍀, I might guess he'd had a few sherbets.

Anyway, hope his head's ok.

Big assumption that his heed was ok before he started drinking. 😃

Didn't pay the bill? Is this a case of a privileged inebriated Irish man or of Irish decent wanting special St. Paddy days treatment, or was this a case of this gentleman's bill being padded down on Paddy's day.

Security guards who idolize the cleverness  police tactics such as corruption, money under the table, "look the other way", selective enforcement and comments to each other "bag the head" and "get her number for me".

Security guards should only use force when the safety of others is apparent. Instead.. their duties are to act as visible deterrent and to aid / assist others.

Thai security guards probably have little to no training and more likely to be hired off the street with no background checks.

Essentially many bar security guards here are no more that private thugs for the employer and likely to have criminal records themselves.

An old standby Thai scam. Might not work so well with so few tourists. Unfortunate it happens the same week the murderer of the Swiss tourist is sentenced.

Assault is assault especially when you are paid to keep the peace.

My experience has been that the  primary duty of "security" staff at Thailand "entertainment" establishments is to protect the property and business income of the establishment's operators. The well being of customer's is not a priority.
