Recommended Posts

The Public Health Ministry hopes to lift the mask mandate in Thailand’s public parks, as the government takes its first tentative steps to declaring Covid-19 endemic. Dr. Kiattibhoom Vongrachit says officials hope to confer endemic status on the virus within 4 months’ time, although they will seek the input of the World Health Organisation on this. Kiattibhoom adds that people infected with the virus would still be required to wear masks. According to a Thai PBS World report, the government’s Covid-19 task force could also lift restrictions on numbers at football matches and concerts, but such events would still need […]

One hundred % agree, since most masks do very little to contain diseases or prevent. Except they will hold back sneezes and coughs.  Hey, teach yourself to cough/sneeze into your elbow. Outdoors NO NEED atall! Carry on.

Sneeze or cough into your elbow crevice? You serious? That would do zero didley except probably propell your germs farther out like a sling shot. Would be better if you sneezed or coughed down into your shirt. But I do agree there needs to be do and don'ts if we start to open u[p more here. I don't wear one for excercie and now if out drinking. Just use common snense to keep everyone safe the best I can. But for supermarkets this needs to be mandatory.

The figure is based on average costs of 20,000 baht per person for Covid treatment.

That is usually not the way, an insurance works for the few people, who need the max. cover

Usually  the insurance cover is set that the unlikeliest highest cost are covered, but because only one of xxxxxxxx is needing that max cover, the premium is cheap for all.

This way,  the hospitals and foreigners will have the same problem, just the insurance companies are limited FOR EVERY REAL case! For the same price like before, methinks.

Meanwhile Cambodia just announced getting rid of entry tests.

The arrival test is much more significant to tourists than the departure test. Everyone knows the chance for a false positive on the pcr test is much more likely and you’ll get a wonderful 10 night stay at an expensive crappy hotel.

It’s time to change it to 1 antigen test on arrival either at your hotel or a clinic.

Why? It’s time to just change it to no requirement. Which has just occurred in UK. With other countries following ….  Can see this happening in Thailand as they want their tourism industry to keep up with the Joneses.

Again and again. Too little to late.

What good is this test on day 5 going to do if it is only mandatory for tourists? What about Thais being infected, spreading the virus and not being regularly tested i.e. once a week?

But at least getting rid of the pre-departure test would be an improvement and save some money.

Health insurance in Europe works different anyway. If I get sick, all the cost are covered. A single day in a intensive care unit in Switzerland will cost more than 20'000 THB, and this is all covered. Doesn't matter if you you are in the ICU because of Covid or for other reasons. If xou fall ill, you are covered, it's as easy ad that.

I agree with that. I just mean within the context of having any test—drop the silly pcr requirement. Btw these tests have basically prevented zero infections.

You're comparing apples and oranges

Thais in Thailand have that, they dont need to buy an covid insurance.

This is just a mandatory health insurance for foreigners to this country.

Which most people do anyway, as a travel insurance.

I just pointed out, that the math is only in favor of the insurances, not in favor of the hospitals or the foreigners.

Both of them will have to go to the "usual" trouble of getting the money, in case of a serious outcome.

Just the insurances will  charge almost as much, assumingly, as for the 100k US police, just with only 20% of the risk

Time to lift all restrictions. Forever. No entry requirements. No mask mandates. No vaccine extortion.

And please, make it happen from tomorrow.

And pig's will fly over BKK, it's not going to happen, it's all maybe, might, could, these clowns have too much hold on the normal people, too many rules that must be obeyed, it's getting to be a joke, fine for not wearing a mask on a motorbike but no helmet no problem. The current government cannot and will not relinquish the current hold they have.
