3 million baht”, calculated according to Tangmo’s age and how much she would have made in the future, had she not died.

Ultimately,  it always comes to money.

What a sad, sad woman, that's all a daughter's life is worth to her, I guess she will have the charges dropped next as well.

TIT.

Sorry not many parents in North America are taking a payout to not pursue their child's possible murder

And I'd imagined in many countries, as well

But it the system in Thailand, happens all the time

No,  it doesn't happen everywhere

Do you think that's wealth related perhaps ? However before making a saint out of North America, google Harry Dunn - a case as bad as it gets. Utterly shames the US. They have tried to buy his parents off and refuse to hand over someone who ended a life through sheer negligence and cowardly hides behind a diplomatic curtain!

You also glibly suggest it's a Thailand fault - but if you have lost a bread winner and the other 5,6,7,8 members face going hungry what choice do you have ? Morals won't feed the kids right ? You think when the money is accepted the grieving stops and the party begins ? Think again.

She's been an actress, a quite well known actress, for almost 20years

Do you think her family is some poor family that is living in a shack in a rice village??

Think again.............

Her mother is scum, took money to hide her daughter's possible murder

So many of the comments on this story and even the story itself show a dramatic lack of understanding of Thai culture and Asian cultures in general. The financial "gift" of compensation for a loss a relative is a thing you see in almost all Asian cultures and is quite normal.

The same old "you don't understand"

You can understand and disagree with the morality of it

And accepting a payout days in an investigation(to clearly not pursue it) is not even close of a gift of compensation, say if someone is at fault of a deadly accident

That is 2 vastly different scenarios you are speaking about

And, the practice, in Thailand, is usually wealthier people paying off poor people who have no other recourse but to accept the money

I had this exact conversation with my wife a few months ago........but she's Thai, so wouldn't know as much as guys on a forum

Whether you agree or disagree with it is irrelevant. It's part of the culture end of story.

Nicely diverted - you stated it's a Thailand thing in general, you have now decided just to focus on ONE rich family.
