News Forum - Olympic Games on the brink as 40 nations threaten to pull out
Allowing the athletes to compete achieves nothing. Allowing them to compete with no flag or national anthem achieves nothing. Everyone who watches the games will know instantly where the athletes are from if there is no anthem or flag. Sure, they will have trained most of their lives to compete in these games, but they need to see that the rest of the civilised world will not accept dictatorial murderers, and for them to realise their goals in a global event they need to oust the abhorrent leadership that has caused their problem. Change has to come from within the country. If you ban their citizens from travelling/competing, this sends a strong message to those people. They need to stand up and oust the dictator that has caused them to be excluded. It's up to them to make the change. This is one of many ways in which the citizens of such a country must rise up and take their country back out of the hands of an evil human being. It's the only way, as every other passive, softly softly approach to dictators has consistently failed and always will. -

News Forum - Thai officials provide safety guidelines for students and school staff amidst pollution
90% of smoke in Chiang Mai is from bush fires, not farmers burning off rice chaff. Due to our altitude and terrain, smoke drifts across from the Indian sub continent and exacerbates the problem by laying in valleys. The annual fire ban period has helped to eliminate indiscriminate burning although tinder dry forest has to be back burnt at present to prevent larger fires later in the season. For those who live inside the actual city and close to busy roads, real pollution is caused by the old diesel trucks, buses and song teaw s belching black smoke .... Now that is a problem which can be addressed though not by EV'S at present. Newer low emission vehicles could be mandated or simply not permitted in city areas. -

News Forum - Thai officials provide safety guidelines for students and school staff amidst pollution
What a sad case of incompetence! In regions where the energy is clean (hydropower like in Chiang mai), there should be major incentives to promote electric car buying and use. The slash-and-burn in hilly terain (or not) is the bigger problem. Farmers are taking the easier path. Governments should pay for the clearance of the land, then maybe it could be done. Or tractors should be provided. -

the government is rushing through a media control bill under the guise of “ethics.” Wouldn't they first have to understand what 'ethics' is? Never gonna happen
