A private healthcare group in Thailand says it’s planning to purchase 5 million doses of the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine. The Thonburi Healthcare Group says the vaccine will be purchased through the Government Pharmaceutical Organisation, the only mechanism through which the private sector can import Covid-19 vaccines. The Bangkok Post reports that THG expects GPO approval within the coming month, with delivery in the third or fourth quarter of the year. Here we go again, with the health people trying to sound as intelligent as those finance people that like to talk in terms of quarter-years. Come on, you people, Q3 and Q4 are officially financial terms of reference for time-scaling monetary matters, officially, that is, until Thai officialdom recently took to jumping on their bandwagon. They must get their kicks, somehow.

But, despite this pathetic attempt to sound professional, that vaccine sourcing time-scale, quoted above, can only be described as lethargic, regardless of it having been considered necessary due to central government's perceived reluctance to vaccinate its people.

This article misses a fact out. The hospital is importing vaccines to sell at a profit right?

This is conclusive proof that more vaccines can be imported, however the government seems unable.

Why? Is it because they want to create a shortage so hospitals can sell vaccinations?

Hospitals that are owned by the persons in power in Thailand?
