"The US, despite relatively muted sanctions up to date, has now announced it will specifically sanction the Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov."

This is a good start, but this practice of targeting the Oligarchs needs to be expanded widely, brutally and quickly. 

Sanction their companies. Sanction their bank accounts outside of Russia. Sanction their markets for their goods. Sanction their families. Sanction their children who are at school in Europe or the US (trump them up on drug charges and PNG them). Attack economically Putin's closest advisors as they are his base and the only people who can remove him.

Simply put, the best attack on Putin now is a swift kick in the Oligarchs.

Congress to approve US$6.4 billion in funding to address the Ukraine crisis. US$2.9 billion would be for security and humanitarian assistance and another US$3.5 billion for the Department of Defense.

we've been down this road many times before. Not a single dollar will reach those in need. It's going to the Military Sector, the CIA and perhaps some relabeled NGO with a regime change agenda. Hypocrisy pure !

Soon the occupying Russians will be the sitting ducks in Ukraine.

Meanwhile there are reports that the Ukrainian Gov. is sending off it's population to protect Kyiv which basically means Human Shields.

Russia claims to have no plans to occupy Ukraine and is ready to negotiate a Neutral Ukraine Status without plans to invite Nato. The War could be over in days if that is achieved but the Elefant in the Room with his Room Mates are unlikely to give in because of their own powerplay plans

If It proves true that such negotiated  result is signed sealed and delivered at last  as a replacement for the  ignored  Minsk Agreement and Putin honours  the long  desired  intent of it  then  please please do so !
