News Forum - BA.2, Covid-19 stealth subvariant of Omicron spiking in Thailand

Recommended Posts

The BA.2 stealth subvariant of Omicron has now surged to make up 18.5% of Covid-19 cases in Thailand.  A top virologist told Nation Thailand that although the symptoms of BA.2 are no more severe than BA.1, it spreads faster. The Public Health Ministry says BA.2 is called a stealth variant because PCR tests don’t always detect it. Japanese lab experiments show AB.2 weakens immunity created from vaccines, although people with booster shots are 74% less likely to get infected by it. Thailand reported 18,885 Covid-19 infections in 24 hours on Friday. 224 of these infections were from international arrivals. The […]

Question:

If we had Sinopharm vaccines in Cambodia and were allowed to enter Thailand on those vaccines, then why are they not recognised by Thai Health when getting the third booster shot?

We have had the 3rd shot and it was a great speedy experience, but we were told that the Phizer shot was the only shot recorded on the Thai Health card?

Any thoughts?

The case fatality rate is still wildly overstated. The new case number is highly managed and of course excludes hospital administered antigen tests.  If pcr are less reliable then why did the government force a second pcr test for test and go?

Most governments around the world are moving to more sensible rules and testing regimes while Thailand continues moving backward  The economic damage they’ve caused will be long lasting and never recovered

You said it yourself you had the Sinopharm shots in Cambodia not Thailand, the Thai authorities are only going to record shots given in Thailand on their database and cards.

Other places haven't done well and have problems. They may be counting on people getting infected and getting natural immunity. It's wise that Thailand is setting its own course.

I assume your a tourist or want to be, but it's what's good for all Thais that matters.

Exactly.

I can't imagine why anyone would think vaccinations given in Cambodia, regardless of what they were, would be entered on a Thai vaccination card and verified by Thailand.

Side note: got 3 BionTech shots on CH (where I live) and was able to upload my certificates both in the Covid app provided by the Swiss authorities AND to the "Covid Warning App" issued by the German authorities. So depending on the level of integration between Thailand and Cambodia it might well be that TH will register cambodian vaccination certificates (or not).

I wonder how much testing and  sequencing is done in Thailand to get reliable data regarding which variant is dominant. Assume it Omikron, irrespective if subtype BA.1 or BA.2, it doesn't impose a lethal threat or to overrun the hospitals. So why not relax, sit down and weather it out?

Just let it happen, like a number of European countries have decided to do. Of course, continue with the vaccinations.

many vaccine supporter, are pedophiles ( child abuser ), and
war- mongers /supporter, in anyway ( some of, big and known countries, in world ),
in governments, religions, etc.,where most corruption is, for over 100 years.

life by thaat, education ( not know enough for self-determined life ),
was bad ( mind war. example, burned, witches and books ), long before corona.
but they want help, in health, by traumatise /shock kids and all, even more ?

and they say, you will own nothing and be happy, but who is not poor,
work mostly, for nothing, and be often sick and stressed. is karma,
as, you was a terroist in some lives before ? believe, is never, know.

but T.ell a V.ision, by government- (institutes)-science and hi-s-tory, tell truths .. .
