Posting on his Facebook page, Dr Manoon Leechawengongs from Bangkok’s Vichaiyut Hospital has called for an overhaul in how new infections are dealt with and wants expensive PCR tests ditched altogether. The man speaks with great authority and practical sense. Regrettably his words will fall on deaf ears because the PM is distracted by a host of other issues and is always prone to u-turns. The deputy PM & Health Minister is on an ego trip having singlehandedly "saved Thailand from certain doom" and is now intent on becoming the next dictator in charge.

Wouldn't it be great if politicians actually listened to the experts.

All around the world politicians have said that they will take the advice of the medical experts, but that only applies when these opinions align with the voting public.

Maybe not so important to the people in power in Thailand, they will make decisions based on the retention of their position.

Could someone make this man the Chief Medical Officer for Thailand?? I know where I come from, politicians find it difficult to err from the Chief Medical Officer's advice, because if something goes wrong, they can say "we were just following the medical advice".....

Not always a good idea. Its hard to separate so called 'experts' from run of the mill scientists, who are collectively all a bit off the wall.  Remember the definition of a 'expert', 'ex' as in a has been , 'spurt' as in a big drip.

The expensive PCR was recommended by USA's CDC, which scrapped the PCR as of 1st Jan. Why are countries still using the PCR that CDC concedes as inaccurate?
