Despite calls to delay removing Covid-19 treatment from the Universal Coverage for Emergency Patients scheme, Thailand’s health minister is pushing ahead. According to a Bangkok Post report, Anutin Charnvirakul says the move will go ahead as planned as it’s part of the government’s policy to downgrade the virus. He was responding to calls from a number of quarters, including his deputy, Sathit Pitutecha, who asked him to postpone the removal of Covid-19 from March 1 until April. 'Suitably qualified'? Unlike you, @Poolie to be so flattering . . . or were you referring only to the UK's Health Secretary . . . and not to Thailand's Chief Engineer 🛠️ ?

Now increasingly seen on Thai social media as a move to i) reduce the numbers coming forward to be tested and ii) the number of cases and hospital cases in Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket as the 30% or so of the population living and working there but still registered in Issan will have no option but to go home to Issan to be tested, quarantined and hospitalised.

No further comment's really needed.
