In a video from the divers, the brim and top of the hat had unravelled. The shark’s neck got stuck in the ring of the hat which was tied up to the coral. A diving trainer posted photos of the decomposed shark and the babies. Have you seen the kind of tourists who go to Phi Phi? We were there recently and while snorkeling by Phi Phi Le we figured we may as well pop over and see Maya Bay. Despite ALL the signs about not leaving rubbish etc, there was a coconut left sitting on the beach with two straws in it. I watch tourists walk past rubbish on the beaches all the time. It doesn't even compute to most tourists to even pick up one bit of it. But have you seen any stretch of road in any north eastern province in the last 24 hours... Shocking the amount of rubbish and illegal dumping with no regard whatsoever Link to comment https://talk.thethaiger.com/topic/11249-news-forum-koh-phi-phi-officials-say-keep-sea-clean-after-pregnant-shark-trapped-in-hat-dies/#findComment-163920 Share on other sites

Shocking the amount of rubbish and illegal dumping with no regard whatsoever Ive been driving my GFs car around Southern Thailand for the last 7 months visiting every island and diving and snorkeling. The rubbish everywhere is a real downer. I've done a few beach cleans and always take a plastic bag with us diving or snorkeling to pick up rubbish, but you can only do so much. If EVERY tourist picked up one piece of rubbish the problem would be solved (mostly). But alas, not many locals or tourists seem to be bothered 1 Link to comment https://talk.thethaiger.com/topic/11249-news-forum-koh-phi-phi-officials-say-keep-sea-clean-after-pregnant-shark-trapped-in-hat-dies/#findComment-163928 Share on other sites
