26 coronavirus-related deaths were reported by the CCSA today, raising the pandemic’s death toll in Thailand to 22,462 with 764 of those fatalities since the start of this year. I wonder how many of those 133,000 people being treated for Covid have a sniffle and nothing more ?

Think there is a hell of a lot more than those figures, we have whole villages locked down and they sure aren't counting them.

The number they attribute to our Province would maybe cover one village.

No quarantine beds left, hospital full, only urgent cases, if test positive stay at home instructions.

Just breaking news from Switzerland, with about 1/10th of the population of Thailand:

The Swiss Federal Council lifts almost all corona measures.

As of Thursday, 17 February 2022, the following nationwide corona restrictions will be lifted:

1. Masks are mandatory in shops and interiors of restaurants as well as publicly accessible facilities, businesses and events

2. Certificate requirement in facilities and businesses such as cinemas, theatres, interiors of restaurants and events

3. Authorisation requirement for major events

4. Restriction for private meetings

5. Home office recommendation

6. Proof of vaccination, recovery or test upon entry and entry form

7. Voluntary capacity restrictions in the retail trade and cable cars

The following will be retained until 31 March:

Mask requirement in public transport and in health facilities

Isolation of five days for people who test positive

These are the latest figures from the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health

1. 21,032 new cases that have tested positive for the coronavirus.

2. There are currently 184 Covid-19 patients in intensive care. 22 percent of intensive care beds are occupied by Covid-19 patients.

3. 10 new deceased.

4. The positive rate in the 7-day average is currently 37.5 percent. This means that out of 100 tests, an average of around 38 tests were positive. The 7-day average test volume is 66,701 PCR tests per day.

5. To date, 15,567,460 vaccinations have been administered in Switzerland (including booster vaccinations). Currently, 68.7 percent of the population have received at least two doses ("fully vaccinated"). 41.0 percent of the population already received a third dose ("booster").

My take: eventhough the infection numbers in Switzerland are substantially higher than in Thailand, they are ready to lift nearly all restrictions because Omikron is not a threat to the health system and because close to 70% have reveived at least two vaccinations. How long will Thailand upkeep its current approach?
