Seems an awfully LOW number to be used by the Tourism Authority of Thailand. Amazed they got involved with something with a number that low. As its Tourists driving on Thai roads what will they call the rally …………. Survivor !

Best thing to entice more visitors to come is to make it less cumbersome to travel to Thailand in the first place.

A car rally for tourists, given the questionable road safety in Thailand? As if something like this would make the "sun & beach"-tourist reconsider his travel plans. Might attract a few, but this has no potential to be a game changer in my view.

Maybe if we put this in context …. The tourists they must be talking about here are Thai locals ….  those with a car. A foreign tourist may do this but most probably they would be in a Phuket Taxi, being robbed blind at  every stop. ….. but the good part for a foreign tourist, if they hire a car and drive themselves, they will pay for the privilege of the thrill of Thai roads. Payment straight into TAT pockets.

TAT = Totally Amazing Thailand. Could we just allocate their budget to the needy people?? People and businesses who have suffered most from the pandemic....

I have an idea that doesn’t cost any money and saves some administrative money and would result in a much bigger boost to tourism — end test & go and restore entry rules to those before covid.

Think more along the lines of Phuket's annual Bike week held in April.

Not many tourists fly in with a Harly Davidson motorcycle in their hand luggage but the event attracts upwards of 500 bikes and tens of thousands of visitors / spectators. A combination of Thai nationals and near neighbours make up the participants with many of the spectators being foreign tourists some of whom come specifically for the event.

This could easily be developed into a larger scale event combining supercars from Thailand and near neighbours, pick ups, European models, Japanese / home grown metal, custom cars and so on. not sure I personally would incorporate accommodation within the ticket price due to the varying needs of participants. Some will want 5 star plus, others more basic fare.

I would look at some drive to venues for a bit of a road trip returning to the Krabi / Nopparat Thara beach area for the evening show element. That would also provide a spectacle for Ao Nang tourists as well as nearby Klong Muang / Tup Taek.

Why not just create a nanny state and give everyone freebies? It's better to create job opertunities so they can  feel good about earing some money. 

If people want to work and will go to where there's a need there are plenty of jobs.

OK but the cost to treat and or lost productivity, and possibly death is way too high. The rules are meant to protect Thais not tourists.

Some people only want to come to Thailand to hang out a party, which is ok but Thais need to work to support themselves. Their welfare must come first.
