The Philippines is welcoming fully vaccinated travellers from 157 countries with visa-free agreements as the Southeast Asian country has lifted its nearly two-year ban on foreign tourists. Visitors are no longer required to quarantine upon arrival as a risk classification system that barred travellers from the worst-affected countries was eased, providing a chance to restore the battered economy as well as revenues from tourism and allied industries. This will put some extra pressure on the Thai authorities to re-think the current entry scheme.

Given that the virus is well under way in the Philippines and a much lesser proportion of the population has been vaccinated I for one cannot be enticed to go there now only because the entry is easy. This said, I am also not enticed to visit Thailand as their entry scheme is unnecessarily cumbersome.

The problem with this story is that ignores that as of Friday 4th of February the Philippines added that you must be able to prove that you have US$35,000 Covid insurance coverage as well as proof of vaccination and a negative test for entry. Since the US government has raised its travel advisory to Level 4 (Do not Travel) Americans cannot get the required insurance coverage and therefore cannot enter the Philippines. So the article is fundamentally WRONG in regards to at least one of the 157 countries listed and probably more.

I believe you can still get insurance without that clause.  So perhaps a non US insurance company?  Even if the policy did have a clause I doubt the PI would check that, so you would still get in the country even if you would never be able to make a claim.  There are so many clauses in these policies it would be hard to make a claim anyways because most insurance companies are scams. They will often automatically deny any claim by default, requiring you to jump through hoops pushing back on them before they actually look at the claim more closely.

Hahaha, you can buy an insurance policy but it will clearly state both on the Web site, in the PDA/PDS, and in the policy details that you have no coverage if you travel to a country where your government, any government of your home country has a a Level 4 travel warning or higher in place. If you think any insurance company will pay out if you go anyway then I have some swamp land to sell you. The Philippines is a country that is obsessed with red tape and paperwork if you think that they will not check your insurance details and not be aware of the US Level 4 warning you're a fool.
