Whatever happened to Kanisorn “Lert” Downchoowan, 35, the black taxi driver who beat to death Chart Ketwongworachat, 58 in 2000?

You hear all this news about people getting killed but never about how long they spend in prison because there's no followup.

Did "Lert" go to jail, if so, for how long?

Exactly, there is no follow up. 

In my fairly early days here I was at some sort of function and one of the dignitaries was the editor of a local news sheet. Our enthusiastic little group wanted to know why we hear of these major crime busts but never what happens next. Why was this. 

The simple answer was "I would be dead."
