As in so many countries around the world, these mentality unstable people are released back into the community with a lack of community care available to help ensure that they are not a danger to themselves or to the community where they live.

I'm not sure such a level of care is possible in any country organized as they are now.

Back in the day,use to have hospitals just for the people who had issues! Lost Funding  during local and state budget cuts!

There are certain situations to where it might be acceptable here in Thailand. Near 30 years ago to my first Thai wife I put on a huge party show with stage music and dancers in the rice fields for the celebration death of a Thai grandfather I really liked. Of course everyone will come from around as there is no direct invite list exception is for the good food at the table. Everything free. Had one fight with a  stabbing between the local kids getting drunk, but in this case the party was well in Thailand acceptable.

Ignorance has a price ! Loud music at 3 am, yes i experience this many nights where i live in Cambodia. Calling the Police doesn't help, the ignorants just repeat it night after night. So when this hits an unstable person the consequences can be dire. Now after the murder he can spend time in an enviroment that is close to hell. Not much better than listening to loud music at 3am.

I guess opening a window and shouting 'some of us are for work in the morning' doesn't hold much clout over here.

It became fashionable in one corner of the world to attack state mental health care as "socialism", and to claim to want "patients rights" (their right not to be treated?).

New reporting revealed that Prasut Thipthep was arrested very nearby the crimes he’s alleged to have committed when police found him just across the street from the house that had been rented by the British men who were attacked. He was said to be hiding in a room that belonged to a relative.

......

It was reported that the attacker has a history of mental health issues, with hospital records for previous problems. After the crime was committed, angry residents, believing he was responsible for the grisly murder, attacked and beat the suspect enough that he had to be sent to the hospital for treatment.

So if i'm reading this correctly, the timeline for this suspect was:

- Beating by angry residents right after the crime

- Hospitalized

- Released from the hospital(??)

- Went into hiding in a house across the street from the crime scene

Did the hospital really let him go? Or is this a matter of conflicting sources being combined into one article?

The attack against mental health institutions was championed and orchestrated by people most in need of those same institutions.

I see you're cottoning on to these things. I think in Lowestoft they would say, "You're very right."
