After a wave of flight cancellations and airline schedule and equipment reshuffling in the US, the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand spoke up to reaffirm that 5G signals in Thailand do not have any conflicts or negative effects on aircraft or flight equipment. Seems to be only a few locations in the us and only certain types of aircraft on certain types of precision approach procedures that are potentially effected, most odd?

The potential situation in the US is with the rollout of what they call 5G+ designed for faster data speeds than what has been happening with 5G in the US. Also, for some reason I am yet to understand but also led to believe, they apparently have “tilted” the antennas on the towers etc more than other countries.

Unlike countries like Australia, South Korea and the UK, the band (spectrum) they have chosen to use and sell to the mobile carriers for use is higher and much closer to the ones used by the altimeters etc of the aircraft and hence more likely to increase the risk of interference.

The US have always seemingly been a bit funny about adopting telecommunications standards etc used in other countries. But it could just be that the spectrum being used was the only spare one available, forcing the difference with other countries and increasing the risk.
