Why does the Thai government allow AXA to sell COVID insurance that does not cover hotel quarantine cost?

The reason that Thai government needs tourists to buy COVID insurance is to make sure tourists have the mean to cover quarantine and treatment costs. For AXA insurance, they don't cover hotel quarantine mandated by the government, so why are they allowed to sell the insurance?

How many times are you going to post about this?

You are an adult and neglected to read the easily accessible FAQ on their website that states they don't cover hotel quarantine

Now whining that they didn't cover what they clearly say they don't cover

You flew to a foreign country and failed to read the insurance you bought

That's on you......

Insurance companies worldwide are big on promises, quick to take your money and very hard to get money back on a claim.

Read the policy before you buy it.

Hence, the term insurance mafia comes to mind.

Apparently Marc26 doesn't know how to read English. My question was: "If the insurance company's policy doesn't do what the Thai government wants, which is to make sure that COVID related expenses are covered by an insurance policy, why the government allows them to sell the insurance to tourists?".

And agree with you, that it should be covered

But apparently you were too lazy to actually read what the insurance you bought covers

Yes you are right but he's still got a valid point.

If the rationale for compulsory insurance is coverage

AND he buys it

AND it doesn't cover his costs

Why was he forced to buy it?

If he chose freely to buy a deficient policy sure caveat emptor (buyer beware) makes sense.

But he wasn't.

Exactly, I called AXA insurance and informing me that in case of a "false positive" asymptomatic or mild symptoms, they only cover for ambulance drop off on you to the hospital, which includes a check up on your health including your weight, respiratory, possibly X-ray, draw blood on you and many more. So, unless you want to quarantine with along the rest of the infected farangs & Thai people in a hospital, prepare to spend between B23K-B25B on a 10 days of AQ by yourself.
