How can he help to stop the crisis if he got in power in a similar way? If he says that the coup is a bad thing, he will have people in Thailand raise their eyebrows.

Point missed . Burma under brutal effective military rule since 1947 independence. Thailands failed civilian govts and self- interested MPs were an absolute disgrace and forced military to take over. 
 

This “call” in pure typical UN comedy, just bs politicking. Thailand are of zero consequence in foreign affairs. India borders Burma and so should be throwing its heavyweight influence around to try to end this. China however supports this tyrannical regime and is Indias bitter enemy.
