PM Prayut Chan-o-cha is urging Thais to not lower their guard when it comes to Covid-19, especially the new variant Omicron, and follow the universal measurements strictly, according to a government spokesperson. The reminder came after 2,611 new patients flocked to field hospitals in Bangkok over the weekend. Government Spokesperson Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana says the prime minister expressed his concern about the recent spike in infection rates, adding that 118 facilities have been opened up to house nearly 25,000 patients and 11 more community isolation institutions in total, with a total capacity of 2,951 beds by the government. How are we supposed to know whether the virus that may be attacking us is omicron or not? If we can't identify it how do we know to "especially not lower our guard"?

Well...for example...if you spent a couple of weeks in Phuket hanging out in bars and underground pool parties; don't travel back to your village to spend quality time with your 84 year old auntie who is confined to her bed. At a minimum, maybe don't do that.

I take the point about not knowing whether it's Delta or Omicron a person is infected with. It takes genomic testing to determine that and that takes time. The rise of Omicron and the large numbers of infected people have made it impossible to test genomically in a timely way. So we're flying blind. In my country the large numbers of infected people and the more infectious nature of Omicron, would lead us to conclude, if you have developed an infection, it is most likely you have contracted Omicron. omicron in my country is now by far the dominant strain. I expect it will soon be the same in Thailand.

If Uncle Tu and the rest of the clowns in government would stop scare mongering everyone maybe the field hospitals wouldn't be filling up but as usual the Thai people are terrified if someone even sneezes. This is unfortunately how Thailand is going to be going forward.

The great leader said a few weeks ago he will make sure no Omicrom is allowed in Thailand. According to Thaiger news Most Bangkok patients are taking up beds with Covid Symptoms and high cases of Omicron. So what kind of fight did you put up Mr Prayut.
