I said it months ago on here but Omicron is the best thing that's happened since day one of the pandemic.

Well, it must be true then - unfortunate that none of the experts worldwide agree with that, or with lifting all restrictions in the UK (name any that do if you disagree), but what do they know?

The country isn't "shut down".

I'd hate to think you were posting misinformation here, so do you have any evidence for that?

Such as links showing how many died from Covid in Pattaya in the last two weeks and how many from suicide?

Country-wide, 200 died from Covid in the last two weeks which is higher than the peak suicide rate last year, which was just over 20% up from normal so that seems unlikely - and even in the unlikely event it were true, there would still have been over five times as many deaths from Covid as there were additional suicides.

So you ask others for evidence but then you make a demonstraton with no evidence.

Very cleaver the added word "additionnal" at the end of your comment, I am not sure what you were triyng to do there (minimising suicide deaths comparing to covid deaths I guess...??), but I am pretty sure it has not been spotted by many. Not sure what was your agenda here.

I found 4 articles, stating the exact same numbers from WHO, 14.4 suicide rate in...2019 . I could not find any data for 2020 nor 2021, if you have some, then please give them to us.

https://www.channelnewsasia.com/cnainsider/high-suicide-rate-region-thailand-grapples-mental-health-covid-265126

https://theaseanpost.com/article/suicide-thailands-epidemic-pandemic

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/global-health/science-and-disease/suicides-rise-thailand-covid-decimates-tourism-industry/ (this one give a link to who but at the other end, it is the data from 204, the only I could myself too)

https://thethaiger.com/news/national/thailand-leads-asean-nations-in-annual-suicide-rate (yeah, even TheThaiger)

I could not find this 14.4 suicide rate for 2019 on WHO website myself. However I would trust these 4 differents sources (well at least 3 of them ha ha ha). If you can, please then give it to us.

14.4 is about 10 000 deaths by suicide in 2019. If we add 20% (I am sure you know it is between 20% to 25%, you took the lowest for your desmonstration, fine). That makes about 12 000 deaths by suicide in 2020 (how many covid deaths in Thailand in 2020 again?). If we logically think that 2021 is most probably about the same numbers, that is about 24 000 deaths by suicide comparing to 22 000 deaths from covid during that same period. Dramatic!!

Oh here we go, stonker and his "experts". You're a scaremongering halfwit.

All you need to do is ask.

From the comment you quoted, in order:

You can get the daily totals from the Thaiger daily reports or from Worldometers or many other sources.

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/thailand/

https://thethaiger.com/coronavirus/tuesday-covid-update-6397-new-cases-provincial-totals

To save you time, it was exactly 200 over the 14 day period - in reverse order: 13,9,18,15,14,19,12,13,12,14,19,11,19,12.

Recent suicide rates are widely reported and easy to find (search 'thailand peak suicide rate 2021'). The first few are:

https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/general/2217211/teens-most-at-risk-as-suicide-rate-rises

(7.37 per 100,000)

https://tradingeconomics.com/thailand/suicide-mortality-rate-per-100000-population-wb-data.html

(8.8 per 100,000)

https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/SH.STA.SUIC.P5?locations=TH

(8.8 per 100,000)

Well,  Khaosod , the Bangkok Post and Channel News Asia all put it at 22%:

https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/general/1983271/suicide-rate-surges-22-

https://www.khaosodenglish.com/news/crimecourtscalamity/2020/09/10/the-forgotten-human-cost-pandemic-linked-to-22-rise-in-suicides/

https://www.channelnewsasia.com/cnainsider/high-suicide-rate-region-thailand-grapples-mental-health-covid-265126

The last time I looked, 22% was "just over 20%".

I think that "evidence" is pretty clear.

Well, if you're "pretty sure it has not been spotted by many" your opinion of many here must be even lower than mine.

I put it in italics, FFS, so that it was less likely to be missed!

What I was "trying to do there" was to put any "additional" deaths due to Covid into perspective so they could be balanced against the Covid deaths rather than anything else, as some are clearly trying to suggest that suicides brought on by Covid restrictions outweigh deaths from Covid when it very clearly isn't the case.

Sorry if you missed that.

The studies shows clearly that you are spreading fake infos about omicron!
