After a rollercoaster ride regarding 9-time Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic having his visa approved and revoked several times as courts debate his status as unvaccinated but recovered from a Covid-19 infection, the tennis star will now be deported from Australia. Novak lost a court appeal to try to reverse the cancellation of his visa when 3 judges upheld the decision. He had the option to appeal again but half an hour after the decision was made, he announced he was finished fighting and would accept a verdict he called extremely disappointing. He will now fly home, where Serbia’s president […]

Meanwhile, Novak could face a 3-year ban from Australia and has been ordered to pay the government’s court costs.

Incorrect statement from Thaiger

After an adverse decision under that part of the Migration Act, the affected person is unable to be granted a visa while offshore for a period of three years.

Though their is an exception to the Migration Act,

The three-year ban can be waived in certain situations, including compelling circumstances that affect the interests of Australia, or compassionate circumstances that affect the interests of an Australian citizen or permanent resident.

Obviously, Djokovic is not an Australian citizen or resident. So next year, or in 2023, he would likely petition the government with the argument that his presence at the Australian Open would help the national interest.

Can’t see that happening ….

Wait for the "boos" when you AUSSIES arrive to play the Ashes!! :) And your stupid version of football which is neither football or rugby! Just 11 Crocodile Dundees running around in "tank-tops" thinking they're tough!!

So when Novax wants to play Wimbledon, what will he do? Being vaccinated or go in quarantaine in the UK for 10 days?
And about Garos? Macron who pests on vaxx will be happy?
US... New York: he can play in open air, but what if it rains and they cover the court and he can't play (no tennis indoor for non vax in New York)?

As Djokovic would probably have won, the eventual winner will have a very hollow victory and will never be known as the real champion. Incidentally, interested to see in the U.K. press that around 85% of Australians agree with the decision. Quite staggering the extent to which the average Aussie has turned against the outside world, the politicians must be so pleased ... the Great Reset will proceed smoothly according to plan in the Antipodes !

That's a a steaming pile of horses***hit.

Then Michael Schumacher, Fernando Alonso, Kimi Raikkonen, Lewis Hamilton,... all have very hollow championships because had Ayrton Senna not died, he probably would have won every single year.

Come on, mate, read what you wrote again but slowly cuz it makes -100 sense.

Same rurles and same laws must be followed for all   -  but as you see here fellows.  in his homeland they think if you are something,   you can do what you want and most not  obey same laws as all other.s    how pathetic behavour from his citizen people - on TV and here -      am happy am notl iving in their shit corrupt country ! throw him out the sooner the better !   thanks australia for be a strong nation !

You can’t compare the two, Ayrton Senna died, Djokovic was prevented from playing so no one will ever know.

Lol. You’ve decided erroneously,  to conclude that the general public in Australia. are lock step with the government on every decision they make? It is you that should who should hang your head in shame.

Looks like he won't be playing in France either.

Up to him.

He made a big deal three years ago about not having an operation on his elbow, believing it could all be solved by God and self-focus. He then had the operation, crying that he'd let his beliefs down. That didn't stop him having the operation when he needed it.

I think you may need to re-read that.  No-one will ever know as neither of them could take part - 'why' doesn't change that!

Novax Djocovid*

That's funny, but really the guy is super healthy, in incredible shape and has many valid reasons to not take a vaccine, including having recovered from covid twice, which would provide much more robust immunity to future infection than last year's leaky vaccine. That's factual science. Also, he is notorious for suffering from an array of food allergies, so he must be extra cautious about what he puts into his body if he wants to continue to perform at an elite level. That's common sense.
