Recommended Posts

After mild punishment for the first widely reported case of someone leaving their approved hotel before their quarantine period was over, it seems the floodgates are open. In Koh Chang, 6 people who tested positive for Covid-19 left their hotel and had to be tracked down. A few days ago a Russian man with Covid-19 who was supposed to be quarantined in Patong disappeared for a day but came back to his room. And yesterday a bulletin was put out for another Covid-19 infected Russian man who left his Phuket room in Kamala and had not yet been located. Now […]

So, these Russian couple stayed in the SandBox for 10 days & assume that they were unvaccinated but the wife tested positive so she needs to be in quarantine for another 10 days. This is ridiculous, that's 20 days total will spend in covid prison or torture chamber.

That hotel's, who have no powers to arrest or contain, can be made responsible is a bit much. It's up to the authorities to ensure compliance and provide the necessary personnel to police government regulations.

This is easy to fix. Just find out what stores have recently sold a pair of denim shorts and a glossy t-shirt (one size too small) to a man wearing a fanny pack across his chest. Do that, and you'll find your escapee. OFF TO THE GULAG!!!

Constant raids on parties and bars, fugitive holiday goers being hunted down, inflation on the rise ect ect.. 2022 is not starting of great for all these programs and policies to revive Thailand again.  Fully vaccinated or not, you still can get infected and spread covid so it's a huge gamble with your money and time for a little holiday and that will keep the majority of folks away

Whereas on the other hand, people might be reasonable and consider everything and reach the decision that it's completely worth it. A few cases amongst a steady four thousand isn't much. Idiots tend to recognise their own.

The hospital contacted their hotel at 1:38 pm when test results came back

Standart check-out time is 12:00. Should every tourist overstay awaiting results?! How long? For 1hr? 1hr 38m? 1 day? 2 days?

So, these guys were not in sandbox or in quarantine anymore , as they already stayed 10 days in the Phuket hotel.

It also means they got infected in Phuket.

Of course! I know some people, after their x-mas and new year holiday of almost 3 weeks, with a 2. test&Go PCR test on day 5 or 6, negative,  one of them got tested positive 2 days after their arrival back in their home country. The other one got tested positive another 3 days later. They have the idea, the standing wave thing in Patong might be the location, where the one caught it.

Hotel probably offered them a very amicable* hourly rate to stay and they declined, then kicked them out when they didn't agree to it :D

*not really of course.

I think you're right. If Thailand wants tourists - "quality tourists" even - it has to provide assurance to these quality tourists it's not a crap shoot to go.

My thought about that:

They were late to the sec. Test, anyway.

Which is one thing.

If they would have done it in time, there would assumingly no positive result, b/c she got infected after the 5 or 6 day.

On the other hand, there should be a order out there, that people HAVE TO WAIT, stay, in their hotel, till the result is back.

And the SHA Hotels usually would need to be involved in this.

Which is difficult to arrange, no one wanna have to deal with that, so no one will enforce this.
