A positive outlook is inspiring and let's you (editorial you, me, us) operate more effectively, I think. 

If you're pointing out the er ontological(?) problems of such an approach that's not my point. It's simply practical, I think. 

Any assertion about the future has problems of teleology, pre-destination, etc. of course. But I don't think that's what you mean?
